Carl White 1905 - 1968

He was born in Narromine and arrived in Coonamble about 1913. He lived and farmed with his parents and siblings on their property (Caloma), which was located approx 20 miles from Coonamble on the Billeroy Road. In 1935 he married Wanda Buttsworth, the youngest daughter of Henry Robert Buttsworth, who was the local mayor for many years during the early 1900s. Carl was a builder in Coonamble in the early days. Two of his buildings which still stand today include the local CWA Hall and the old Town Tennis courts club house in Dubbo Street, which now accomodates the Tafe College. During World War 2 Carl became an Airforce Photographer. He was a keen sportsman playing Cricket and Tennis at every chance and was also involved with the local rifle range. He then progressed to playing lawn bowls in his later years winning many trophies. Photography was one of his main loves in life.

Sedg White

I was born in Coonamble and attended both the Coonamble Public and Coonamble High schools. In 1970 I completed Year 12 and went to Sydney to live until 1977. I returned to Coonamble to run my own business which was the Esso Service Centre in Castlereagh Street until 1986. Since 1989 I have been living on the Gold Coast. For 13 of those years, I have worked as a photographer shooting large conventions, weddings, portfolios, formals, portraits, catwalks and presentations. These functions were mostly held in all the large Hotels including Jupiters Casino, Sheraton Mirage, Royal Pines Resort, Marriott Hotel Group and the Palazzo Versace. Following in my Father's footsteps, I love my photography.

The majority of photos on this site have been taken either by Carl or Sedg White with some contributions from my brother Errol White as well.

Three other very well known photographers, Norm Moody (deceased), Neville Owen and Peter Mayoh all from the Coonamble area, have taken thousands of images over several decades around the Coonamble District. They are all a credit to their profession. Neville has hundreds of images available for public viewing at the Coonamble Shire Library.

There are many other amateur photographers around Coonamble that are too numerous to mention but also deserve credit for capturing their own images of the town and people. It would be safe to say, that we have all enjoyed the thousands of hours taking and showing the photographs we have shot. I hope you and your families enjoy these images.
